Y6 - Hardwick and Haddon

Please check here for any updates, news or pictures for Haddon & Hardwick, thank you!

Welcome back, we hope you are all refreshed and raring to go. We are kicking off this half term by learning all about the heart.

This half term we will be studying the book ‘Pig Heart Boy’ by ‘Malorie Blackman.’ During this learning journey we will look closely at how the heart works and the circulatory system. We will also be looking at how to keep ourselves healthy.

In science we will be dissecting a real-life pig’s heart, this will allow us to become familiar with the different parts of the heart in a hands-on way. We will also be looking at what we need to do to keep ourselves healthy.

During DT we will be putting our cooking skills to the test and cooking Haddon’s and Hardwick’s very own healthy dishes. Maybe you could even come in and sample a few of our tasty dishes.

Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to the rest of the year!

Crimson, scarlet, burgundy, cherry… blood flows through our bodies in all its vibrant shades of red. Let’s explore our circulation system! Now surgeons, don’t be squeamish as we dissect an animal heart and examine the veins, arteries and chambers up close. They all work hard to move blood around our bodies.

Hearts pound, flutter and maybe skip a beat... What makes your heart race? Is it a secret? Cross my heart, I won’t tell!
