Student Leaders visit Maltby Fire & Police Station

In January, were asked to attend the official opening of the new Maltby Fire and Rescue services as as part of it, we needed to create pictures which promote the work of the emergency services and after a whole school competition, the student leaders and members of Red Watch and PC Glynn, judged to decide the top ten which would be on display at the opening ceremony.  The student leaders also created an image which has been enlarged to be on display in the entrance to the new building.

During the morning, some of the student leaders and the top three competition winners, attended the opening.  They met the Rotherham Mayor and the Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, Mr Andrew Coombe.  After seeing a demonstration of the work the Fire and Rescue service do, we assisted in unveiling the official plaque.  The children enjoyed the tour of the station; especially when they got to climb into one of the fire engines and speak to the officers on duty – even doing a ‘test call’ to check their reaction times.
