Year 5 Visit Eyam 10.04.18

On 10.04.18 Year 5 braved the fog and drizzle to travel back in time to visit the historic town of Eyam to conclude all of their learning based on the Black Death. Having spent last half term learning about the plague and how it affected people living in Britain, the children were able to visit the sites we have read all about and really bring their learning to life. We were able to locate where some of the famous families (such as the Hancocks and Syddalls) lived in the 17th Century. We saw the graves of the Hancock family and visited the church that tells the story of the people in the area. We also looked around the museum and learned more about unusual cures and remedies that people would try...

...thankfully, we all arrived back to school in one piece with not a buboe or lump in sight!
