REWARDS

Throughout our curriculum, we aim to foster the complete development of each child, integrating both character and knowledge. To promote this, we have pinpointed six essential characteristics that we strive to instil within our children. Every aspect of our approach is designed to foster the growth of these fundamental attributes. We believe that each attribute is pivotal in preparing our children to become well- rounded, well-educated individuals who are ready for success in their future educational endeavours.

It is of great importance that these characteristics are not only identified, but also rewarded and recognised when children are achieving these with consistency. Our rewards and recognition of core learning characteristics for all our pupils include:

Beads

Children are regularly awarded coloured beads that match the colours of our Core Learning Characteristics.

  • Each time a child demonstrates one of these positive behaviours, they earn the corresponding bead.

  • Beads are added to our House Team jars: Fire, Water, Air, and Earth.

  • They are a way of recognising and celebrating positive behaviour across the school.

stickers

At Maltby Manor Academy, we celebrate children who actively demonstrate our Core Learning Characteristics through their learning and behaviour.

  • Awarded to children who are actively displaying key learning behaviours in the classroom and around school.

  • Stickers match the colour of the CLC they represent, making it clear which learning behaviour has been recognised.

  • They provide immediate praise and encouragement, motivating children to keep showing these positive learning attitudes.

  • Over time, stickers build a picture of a child’s commitment to becoming a confident, considerate and resilient learner.

postcards

At Maltby Manor Academy, we are committed to recognising and celebrating the children who demonstrate our Core Learning Characteristics  during their learning.

  • When a child displays one of the Core Learning Characteristics, they will receive an Individual Achievement Postcard.

  • These postcards are awarded by a member of the Senior Leadership Team  and are sent home to share with families.

  • They recognise and celebrate exceptional examples of children living out our Core Learning Characteristics in their daily learning.

reading stars

At Maltby Manor Academy, we encourage and celebrate regular reading at home.

  • Each time a child reads at home at least three times in a week, they earn a Reading Star sticker.

  • Once they collect the required number of stickers, they are awarded a Reading Star badge.

Badges are earned in order, working up through the stages. This reward system encourages children to keep reading regularly, building their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of books.

Superstar Award

The Superstar Award is a recognition bestowed upon students for excellent achievements. This will be presented during Friday's Superstar assembly. Children can earn the Superstar Award for exceptional accomplishments, such as, demonstrating outstanding academic improvement, displaying exceptional kindness and empathy towards peers, showing remarkable leadership skills within the school community, consistently exhibiting a positive attitude and contributing to a positive learning environment etc.

25 reads

At Maltby Manor Academy, every child is encouraged to take part in the 25 Book Challenge – designed to promote a love of reading at home and reading for pleasure.

  • Children aim to read 25 books across the year.

  • Progress is recorded in their reading log within their planner.

  • Milestone achievements are celebrated in assembly with certificates for reading:

    • 5 books

    • 10 books

    • 15 books

    • 20 books

When a child completes all 25 books, their achievement is celebrated and recognised as a fantastic commitment to reading.
