Manor Book Festival
To celebrate Manor Book Festival this year, Year 1 have read story 'Giraffes can't dance' by Giles Andreae and Guy Parker- Rees. Throughout the week, we have looked at the main character from the story and have used adjectives to describe how he feels. In Art, we created animal prints using powder paint. We made split pin giraffes and used different materials to create a collage.
To celebrate Manor Book Festival this year, Year 2 have been focussing on the storybook 'Tyrannosaurus Drip' by Julia Donaldson. We have created a story map, learnt actions to go alongside this, and then wrote our own innovated story based on the original text. In Art, we experimented with oil pastels to create a sunset scene with a silhouette dinosaur. In History, we became palaeontologists by excavating fossils and learning all about the life and work of famous fossil hunter, Mary Anning. Finally, in Science, we compared and classified dinosaurs based on their different features. We have loved sharing our favourite stories throughout the week, and thoroughly enjoyed looking at, and reading, a variety of books from the fantastic Book Fair
